Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian Empire. His regal titles in full were The Great King, King of Kings, King of Persia, and King of the Four Corners of the World.
Fars province is in the south of the country, and its administrative center is Shiraz. The etymology of the word "Persian", is derived from the historical importance of this region.
