Mohajeran Sarouk is one of the very few types of Sarouk carpets that are made from the finest wool and brilliant natural dyes. The quality of the wool used to make Mohajeran Sarouk carpets is excellent. This wool is rich in lanolin, and the heavy construction makes Sarouk carpets very durable, typically worn by generations. The most important feature of the Mohajeran Sarouk carpet is the floral and potted pattern, which is inspired by the background design of much older carpets, such as the 19th century Farahan Sarouk carpets, which feature the Lakh and Toranj pattern. Sarouk weavers have made these designs the most well-known and sought-after Iranian carpet designs worldwide.

Persian Rug 6185 - Farahan Persian Rug from Hadi Maktabi Gallery

This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Farahan Persian Rug (Farahan Persian Carpet), Sarouk Persian Rug (Sarouk Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Hadi Maktabi Gallery. One of the awesomest Saruk Farahan rugs I’ve had. A simple idea: central medallion and matching corners on a Mahi patterned field. We’ve seen it thousands of times. So how do you spice it up? Inject the most delicious natural dyes and be selectively tasteful in both placing and matching them. Imagine if the brilliant yellow was replaced with burgundy or if the medallion’s colors were reversed - the rug would then range between the banal and forgettable. Ensure the drawing of the little motifs is clear and cleverly delineated; and that of the medallion is equally visible and legible, while being somewhat memorable too. And that, kids, is how you craft a winner that purrs over 150 years later.

Persian Rug 6070 - Farahan Persian Rug from Persian Carpet Collection

This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Farahan Persian Rug (Farahan Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Persian Carpet Collection. Antique Farahan rugs run the gamut of pattern languages from the most austere and ethereal to “maximalist” portrayals of a sacred natural world. This glorious piece is ascribed to the latter. Within a lush background of fecund floral sprays, three golden fronds are carefully nurtured and grow triumphantly from the opulent, ornamented vase. Look how its curling handles morph into the heads of cranes! Overhead at the very top of the rug’s field another crown-like vessel hangs from the vaulted arch by a cord, spilling an offering shower of blossoms into the scene. Engaged with the vertical edge of the field are two stately cypress trees, suggesting that the design is never-ending. Adding to the intrigue are soft cerulean blue roundels in the warm, madder red corner spandrels that are actually portals revealing two firebirds perched on a ledge peering back at the viewer. This luxuriant Persian City rug would be an exquisite showpiece, and its heavy pile condition and luxurious wool would allow it to even comfortably withstand the heavier traffic of an entry hall. And the continual nuances of its complex pattern offers the viewer myriad of new elements to discover over time. Detailed details in the not so distant future!
