Steelman Rugs

Another spectacular Bidjar anyone? Have you ever seen such an Impressionistic border? 8’8”x11’5” of pure joy. Bidjar rugs are truly remarkable. They are indestructible, the older pieces have incredible dyes, the wool is rich and lustrous, and they tend to have eclectic and positive vibes. For the love of rugs.

Persian Rug, Tabriz Persian Rug

Steelman Rugs

Vintage Persian Tabriz rug with a magnificent display of larger than life botanicals on a euphoric cerulean blue ground. Carpets with similar designs originated in 16th and 17th Safavid Dynasty Persian workshops and became highly sought after for their bold elegance and vivid colors. In fact, an original “Sickle Leaf Vase Technique” design carpet sold at Sotheby’s Auction in 2013 for just under $34 million as shown in our photo #11. Our mid twentieth century rendition embodies the spirit and flair of those original masterpieces. The colors of our wonderful Tabriz include the cerulean blue ground, a rust red border, and motif details in navy blue, olive green, buff, baby blue, chartreuse, bone, coffee bean, lemon yellow, gold, cream, and many more. Size: 9’8”x12’2’’ Age: 1950 Origin: Tabriz, Northwest Persia Materials: Hand knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation. Condition: Excellent condition overall with lustrous low pile and small scattered areas showing light use/wear. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use. Professionally hand washed.

Rug No. 3415 Antique Persian Tabriz rug with an entrancing Renaissance Revival - Maximalist style. Large scale stylized blossom palmettes and foliage follow a plan that captures an intriguing balance of formality and spirited playfulness like the imagery and mood you might find in a 15th Century Renaissance painting. We especially love the friendly dragons throughout the border. The colors are of course on par with the fabulous design and include rust, sunset red, olive green, dusty plum, khaki, lemon yellow, navy blue, cerulean blue, peach, dusty pink, brick red, walnut, and ivory. A rare find for lovers of fine art. Size: 9’2”x12’9’’ Age: 1930 Origin: Tabriz, Northwest Persia Materials: Hand knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation. Wish you the best Friday rug friends! If you are not in too much of a rush, this series of pictures reveals an unusual and very beautiful Heriz dating to c.1920. The design appears to have its origins in the harshang motif of shield shaped blossom palmettes. I love the implied symmetry, but freedom of scale in the elements. It is quite dirty in these photos, but a deep cleaning by our talented rug washers will reveal the most magnificent vegetable dyed colors. Size is 7’5”x10’7”. It is available. Inquiries are welcome!
