This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet) and Isfahan Persian Rug (Isfahan Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Hadi Maktabi Gallery. An early generation masterpiece from the famed Seirafian workshop in Isfahan, this carpet is unusually large. Most of their production, especially early on from the 1930s to the 1960s, consisted of ghaliche size rugs averaging 2 meters length. The scale of this is gigantic in comparison. It is in 100% superb condition with vegetable dyes and significant silk highlights. The fringes are complete and in silk with the bottom silk kilim intact. Exquisite tribal rug with standout natural dyes. The green medallion and navy blue corners are intoxicatingly beautiful. As is the charmingly meandering border. The waif like boteh forms denote a Kashkuli origin which the weave supports. It is extremely fine with one of the highest knot counts for a wool on wool rug. The signed artworks of Grand Master Mohammad Dabir Al Sanayeh are among the greatest, finest and rarest of all Persian antique carpets. He revolutionised the art of carpet design and weaving in Kashan in the early 1900s, allowing the entire history of Kashan rugs to be divided into two periods: the Mohtasham school of the 19th century and the Dabir school of the 20th. In fact all—each and every single—rugs made in Kashan over the last 100 years owe their style and raison d’être to Masyer Dabir. This breathtaking vase and flower carpet is one of only two of his that I have seen in the exclusive and exceptionally rare size 6 sqm size. The Kork Manchester clothing wool he used glistens and shimmers with the ferocity and brilliance of the terrific, high grade natural dyes. All his signature floral motifs and styles are incorporated here: the slender waisted vases; rotund carnations and round roses; the perched lovebirds peering back; the semicircular lotus flowers; the wispy vines cascading upwards and defying gravity … Extremely collectible Available for our dearest clients Please DM for further details and price.

Today’s reveal is a succulent antique Qajar Tehran woven with all silk flowers on a silk foundation. It is absolutely magnificent and tremendously rich. It’s not on my website yet and I believe it’s the first time I’m publishing it. The Qajar dynasty sought inspiration amongst royal Safavid arts when they decided to project a veneer of cultured legitimacy in the 1800s. Few such carpets survived, based on the Shah Abbas lotus flower theme going back to the 1500s infusing it with silk only added to the appeal. Superb condition with full pile. The distinctive royal Tehran burgundy is stellar, the alluring blues most mesmeric. 213 x 124 Circa 1875
