The large size is so hard to find in this quality. The natural dyes make it all work—be sure to spot the excellent sky blue splashed around the carpet. Visually speaking, this really ought to be a Tehran but in fact it is an early Kashan from the Dabir generation. The all over Shah Abbas field of lotus flowers, palmettes, and arabesques is populated with lions, dragons and other mythical creatures--exactly what you would find on Tehran rugs. This makes it quite a unique find for a Kashan, especially with its cream field. 440 x 313 Circa 1920
