This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Tabriz Persian Rug (Tabriz Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Hadi Maktabi Gallery. Weavers in Tabriz 100+ years ago did not create colorful carpets or utilise high knot counts. This majestic beauty is an exception with its flowering vase on a pedestal surrounded by Millefleurs blossoms. In perfectly mint condition, it shows us what tabrizi artists were capable of and what they indeed sporadically achieved for the benefit of the city’s rich mercantile elite in the late Qajar age. I see something like this perhaps once or twice a decade. Highly collectible & recommended.
