This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Kashan Persian Rug (Kashan Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Hadi Maktabi Gallery. A rather beautiful antique Kashan - quite appealing & attractive, while also being a rare instance of the transitional period linking the Mohtasham (1850-1900) and Dabir (1920-1940) schools. The layout and arrangement are quite Dabir esque in formality and elegance. However, zoom in and you’ll see that the flowers are drawn in the archaic 19th century Mohtasham style and coloured accordingly. The colour palette is more varied than later Dabir types for sure. Old school Persian dealers call this uncommon type Ateshoglu while Arab dealers (the old Baghdad bazar especially) refer to it as Ali Akbari. Meanwhile, out west it’s simply another Kashan .. what’s in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Lustrous Kork wool in full pile. For price enquiries please DM us.
