This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Tabriz Persian Rug (Tabriz Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Hadi Maktabi Gallery. This impressive antique carpet reminds me of Virgil’s Georgics, an epic poem he published in 29 BCE towards the end of the last civil war of the Roman Republic. One year after Cleopatra’s suicide, a topic I covered in the preceding post. It is lush with natural scenery and abundant in color. We see a human hand behind the construction of the marbled stone podium on which the flowering vase rests. That in turn reminds me of Keats’ Ode on a Grecian Urn, published in 1819. Much closer in date to the time of creation of this fantastic Tabriz carpet, added today to the collection. DM for info please!
