This over 145-year-old treasure is a particularly innovative example with its unusually spacious design of continually reinvented motifs and its brilliantly layered, wonderfully saturated colors. A rustic, idiosyncratic carpet of continually evolving abstracted leaf and plant forms drawn with great asymmetry and humor, it satisfies the aesthetic beloved by tribal rug lovers in a room-size format. Enthrallingly stylized, this robust Serapi Heriz persian carpet! is a wonderfully original re-invention of a celebrated style. A light red ground with a large polychrome medallion, clear blue corner ornaments, stylized palmette and flower festoons. A dark blue main border with large palmette and flower vines.
