This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Heriz Persian Rug (Heriz Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Claremont Rug Company. The creators of this most folkloric of carpets were likely from the outermost villages near Heriz or perhaps still lived quasi-nomadic lifestyles. An “exploded” view of its medallion is like suspended animation that is artistically daring and quite unlike anything we have seen in other Serapi examples to date. The eye-catching centerpiece is the stable nucleus of such action, anchoring the drama of the buoyant, subtly hue-shifting azure field.
