HAJI BABA GANJEH TABRIZ The most revered floral weaving style that emerged from the city of Tabriz in the 19th century, Haji Baba Ganjeh rugs also exclusively employed the center medallion and corner piece format, with only a fraction presenting overall designs. This landmark, remarkably well-preserved over 145-year-old piece reveals a masterful command of a far less encountered multi-medallion approach, infusing fresh creativity that is seamlessly executed with consummate craftsmanship and aesthetic nuance. Presenting a stunning abundance of regal red tones only very rarely encountered in such profusion in a Haji Baba carpet, the notably open reserve demonstrates astonishing dexterous abrash that transitions from soft terracotta to striking garnet and ruby red as it ascends. Twelve antique ivory medallions, each with its own slightly modified outline and internal pattern, are artfully juxtaposed by equally engaging cobalt blue rosettes. 10' 4" x 13' 7" 315 cm x 414 cm Circa 1875
