A tremendously expressive phalanx of angular crimson cloudbands, heralding the vapor-covered mythical dragon, assemble in clearly defined order within an elongated hendecagonal medallion "tethered" by diagonal chains of tiny checkered squares on an ember red reserve. The natural dyestuff used as the medallion's base color displays a virtuoso diaphanous abrash treatment of delicate celadon to sea green and would have been an extremely precious commodity. Here, in this exceptionally singular piece, it is used in abundance.
