This painstakingly detailed, ebullient Tehran rug demonstrates great mastery of the highly acclaimed ‘Tree of Life’ design while offering an immersive, idealistic depiction of the natural world. Meticulously detailed blossoms in bronze, azure fern green, and oxblood shimmer and sway across the ivory reserve beneath the canopy of an ornately scalloped arch, festooned with a Rococo display of luminous garlands and florets. Tucked within the gently sinuous boughs are ethereal birds that are almost invisible through their camouflaged coloration and insightful placement by the weaver among the crisply rendered foliage. An elaborate primary band displays a profuse array of botanical delights. Their differing proportions and adept shading ensure that it doesn’t appear crowded, with innovative vinery like chain lightning crackling with life.
