The "handle" of this antique Ferahn (i.e., the pliability of the textile when squeezed in the palm of the hand) is referred to as "like a handkerchief." This suppleness, along with its exceptionally dense weave, is characteristic of early 19th century work from this region, as we conjecture the descendants of the Safavid workshops populated this area after the dynasty collapsed.
