(BIJAR) 25 ft. 9 in. x 15 ft 785 cm. x 457 cm Circa 1870 first Quarter 19TH (High-Decorative) Resplendent hues of naturally dyed deeply saturated carnelian, indigo and azure exert a powerful allure in this dazzling century-old Persian Bijar (Bidjar), whose tremendous impact is made even greater by its expansive 12x20 dimensions. Great attention to balance and symmetry appears in its carefully nested series of reserves, where the much-loved traditional "Herati" design provides delightfully stylized patterning. Highly resilient wool and superb hand-woven craftsmanship lend great durability to this dynamic, seldom-encountered oversize oriental carpet.
