This highly singular nearly 150- year-old Persian Serab carpet is a masterwork created on an enormous canvas. It offers a virtuoso assemblage of balanced geometry and an entirely original pattern language. In an idiosyncratic expression virtually never seen in weavings other than small antique tribal rugs, each diverse element is united into a compelling whole. Luminous camelhair is the ideal base to ground and unify this panoply of motifs.
