Persian Rug, Kashan Persian Rug, Antique Persian Rug

Persian Carpet Collection

In the first half of the 19th century, kashan was one of only a few Persian town weaving centers that possessed weavers with the great dexterity and sufficient wealth necessary to take on a palace-size commission such as this. Much technical and design experience was needed to accomplish this monumental weaving, such as the perfect proportion of the centerpiece with the graceful corners and ample borders. Executed in a remarkably fine weave for a palace-size carpet, this breathtaking piece juxtaposes a massive, elongated center medallion with petite point detailing of the multitude of charming kashan-style blossoms in its field. 14' 2" x 20' 1"68 432cm x 612cm 1nd half 19th century
