With a soaring aesthetic presence, this stand-alone Serapi offers the vastly overscale motifs and extremely generous spacing that is as seldom encountered as it is desired. Within a sparsely ornamented, continually lobed midnight blue-based center medallion are majestic, organically inspired curling leaves and exotic blossoms, and a pair of lotus flowers on expansive stems. At its axis is a stylized sunflower with an entirely unadorned center of iridescent saffron yellow. This splendor is encircled by a slender vermilion red field that features a single, delicate meandering vine. Golden sand-toned corner spandrals expertly counterbalance this strategically aligned centerpiece. Even the traditional Shah Abbas border design based in the same vermilion of the field is completely refreshed, with angular deconstructed forms connecting the viewer with a prized, archetypal aesthetic.
