Each bird form is drawn slightly differently, with tremendous refinement, constantly revitalizing the expansive allover pattern. A piece of this scope is at the epitome of mid-19th-century woven art on a grand scale. It is preserved in surprisingly good condition with appealing patinated wool and a gamut of vibrant naturally dyed colors, including cranberry and claret red, rich coral, golden sand, honey and slate blue.
