Tehran Persian Rug from Hadi Maktabi Gallery

This Persian rug is in the categories of Persian Rug (Persian Carpet), Tehran Persian Rug (Tehran Persian Carpet) and Antique Persian Rug (Antique Persian Carpet), and it has been introduced and provided by Hadi Maktabi Gallery. Today’s reveal is a succulent antique Qajar Tehran woven with all silk flowers on a silk foundation. It is absolutely magnificent and tremendously rich. It’s not on my website yet and I believe it’s the first time I’m publishing it. The Qajar dynasty sought inspiration amongst royal Safavid arts when they decided to project a veneer of cultured legitimacy in the 1800s. Few such carpets survived, based on the Shah Abbas lotus flower theme going back to the 1500s infusing it with silk only added to the appeal. Superb condition with full pile. The distinctive royal Tehran burgundy is stellar, the alluring blues most mesmeric. 213 x 124 Circa 1875
