The signed artworks of Grand Master Mohammad Dabir Al Sanayeh are among the greatest, finest and rarest of all Persian antique carpets. He revolutionised the art of carpet design and weaving in Kashan in the early 1900s, allowing the entire history of Kashan rugs to be divided into two periods: the Mohtasham school of the 19th century and the Dabir school of the 20th. In fact all—each and every single—rugs made in Kashan over the last 100 years owe their style and raison d’être to Masyer Dabir. This breathtaking vase and flower carpet is one of only two of his that I have seen in the exclusive and exceptionally rare size 6 sqm size. The Kork Manchester clothing wool he used glistens and shimmers with the ferocity and brilliance of the terrific, high grade natural dyes.
