This brilliantly conceived 20th-century Kashan applies exceedingly original and entirely virtuosic color choices to its exceptionally compelling pattern language. A continually varied medallion design features an Art Nouveau eight-petalled flower medallion adorned with exclusive polychrome palmettes. The elongated outer medallion continues the poetic botanical pattern and culminates in fan-palmette pendants. These appendages rustle the glowing floriated vinery that spreads through the reserve enclosed by warm, elaborate corner spandrels. An unrivaled jewel-toned color palette runs the gamut from canary tourmaline to golden beryl, midnight sapphire to luminous blue topaz, and warm jade greens. The most dramatic and dexterous abrash color transitions are found in the soft terracotta to fiery carnelian range. Both major and minor border bands express themselves like improvised jazz music while being both staccato and expansive in their syncopated composition.
