Shorabil Lake located in Ardabil, is the only natural lake within a city in Iran. In the past, this lake was very briny. However, its salinity is decreased today by adding fresh water in such a way that one type of salmon is farmed there. There are many recreational, sport and cultural facilities in this lake including running track, cycling track, boating facilities, zoo, some hotels, an outdoor as well as an indoor amusement park. This is one of the areas closed to hunting in Ardabil province.
