About Historic Wall of Gorgan

Historic Wall of Gorgan belongs to Sasanid Era. With a length of 200 kilometers, it is the longest historic site in Iran that has been built within 90 years. Historic Wall of Gorgan starts from the bank of Caspian Sea at Gomishan Area and it continues to Golidagh mountains on the northeast of Kalaleh. Today however, almost all parts of this wall are destroyed and only a small part of it, which has been buried, has remained. Archaeological surveys suggest that tens of millions of red bricks have been used in the construction of Historic Wall of Gorgan. In these surveys, there is evidence of a large number of brick-making workshops and kilns have been found along this wall and within a walking distance from it. Historic Wall of Gorgan has been registered as a national monument of Iran.
