About Castle of Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed
Castle of Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed is located 25 kilometers to the west of Shahr-e Kord, in Shams Abad Village. This castle has been constructed by Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed in late Qajar Era. Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed was the younger brother of Ali Gholi Khan Sardar As'ad. He participated the Constitutional Movement. When Mohammad Ali Shah returned to Iran, Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed commanding some Bakhtiari riders, struggled Mohammad Ali Shah troops and showed a great deal of bravery. In addition, when Tehran was overpowered by Bakhtiaro Mujahideen and riders, Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed was present in the camp of Sardar As'ad and he was one of the commanders of Bakhtiari riders. Castle of Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed is made of adobe with brick façade in two floors of ground floor and basement as a complex composed of a vestibule-like entrance, four towers and secondary structures. The ground floor has a columned porch and the patterns used at the end of the pillars of the north porch are considered as the major adornments of this building. Castle of Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed is constructed at the end of a garden where assorted trees including palm and orange, as well as assorted flowers and plants could be found. Of features of this castle is its architecture that is unique to Qajar Era. Castle of Yousef Khan Amir Mojahed has been registered as a national monument of Iran.
