Hakim Abolqasem Ferdowsi Tusi is the Iranian epic poet and the author of Shahnameh, the National Epic of Iran. Ferdowsi is called the Hakim of Speech, the Hakim of Tus and the Master of speech. Tomb of Ferdowsi is located 25 kilometers to the northwest of Mashhad, in Tus. The current building of this tomb belongs to the contemporary era. The tomb is composed of three sections the first of which is a tombstone made of marble. The second section is a square hall made of marble the inside of which is adorned with tiles and there are four tall pillars with two large capitals on the four corners of it. A figure of a winged man is located on the south side of the hall. The third section is a staircase covered with marble on which the hall is located and many poems of Ferdowsi are carved on its walls. Tomb of Ferdowsi is located in a garden of about 6 hectares that includes a library and a museum. It is worth mentioning that Paj Village, the birthplace of Ferdowsi, is located 28 kilometers to the east of Tomb of Ferdowsi.
