Sorkhabad Protected Area is located 18 kh to the southeast of Zanjan. It encompasses over half of natural forests of Zanjan Province with abundant and valuable vegetation including ferula gummosa, juniperus excelsa, walnut, paliurus spina, pistacia atlantica, crataegus aronia, astragalus spp, thymus and artemisia. In Sorkhabad Protected Area various animal species can be found including various types of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish.
