About Shams-ol-Emareh
Shams-ol-Emareh is one of the historic monuments of Tehran that was constructed at Qajar Era and it is considered as one of the major structures of Golestan Palace. Shams-ol-Emareh is important due to its height, decorations and design. It has five floors with a height of 35 meters that has been considered as the tallest building in Tehran at that time and it is the first building in the construction of which metals have been used. The first floor of Shams-ol-Emareh includes a porch and an alcove with premium and unique mirror work and aisles that are located on two sides of alcove with eye-catching decorations. On other floors, small chambers are found with lattice decorations, drawings and mirror work. The floor of alcove and façade of this building was embellished with seven-color tiles to the style of Qajar Era. The architecture of Shams-ol-Emareh is a combination of classic Iranian and western architecture.
