About Dowlat Abad Garden

Dowlat Abad Garden is one of the old gardens of Yazd, built in late Afsharid Period. Mansion windcatcher of this garden with the height of 33.8 m is the tallest adobe windcatcher known in the world. With an area of about 70,000 m2, Dowlat Abad Garden consists of many buildings, pools and fountains among which are orchards with pomegranate, grapes and other trees along with many flowers that adorn the perimeter of the garden. The historic big aqueduct of Dowlat Abad with a history of over 200 years consists of 5 aqueducts that originate from Mehriz heights. In the past, after irrigating some lands in Mehriz and moving some water mills and passing over 50km, this aqueduct reached Yazd and irrigated Dowlat Abad Garden. However, this garden is currently being irrigated by a semi deep well. Dowlat Abad Garden is now considered a national heritage of Iran and it is recorded as one of the Iranian gardens in UNESCO World Heritage.
