About Jame Mosque of Yazd

Jame Mosque of Yazd is one of the architectural masterpieces of Iran all around which there are monuments of various periods. It is one of the most beautiful mosques of Timurid Period which is one of the architectural masterpieces of 9th century AH in terms of its tiling, high facade, minarets and inscriptions. In addition, this mosque is the oldest architectural sample which has been imitated in religious architecture of Yazd region during 9th century. The current building of the mosque with an area of about 10,000 m2 consists of the entrance, frontage, and courtyard, side arcades of courtyard, porch, dome house and shabistan on its sides, a large shabistan and library. Rich and beautiful decorations are among properties of Jame Mosque of Yazd. The current mosque is built in the place of three mosques that had been built next to each other during within centuries. In Qajar Period, these three mosques were finally unified as one mosque with a grand courtyard.
