About Tomb of Ali ibn Mahziar Ahvazi

Tomb of Ali ibn Mahziar Ahvazi is located in Ahvaz. Ali ibn Mahziar Ahvazi was one of the companions of Imam Reza, Imam Muhammad at-Taghi, Imam Ali an-Naghi and Imam Askari (PBUT). He learned religious orders beside them and he has been one of their representatives in some areas, especially in Ahvaz. He was one of the Shiite jurists, scholars, commentators and scientists in 3rd century A.H. Ali ibn Mahziar Ahvazi has written over thirty books and treatises on various fields of Islamic teachings. His name has been mentioned in about 437 revayahs. According to some revayahs, he passed away at the time of Imam Hassan Askari (PBUH) and according to historic narrations, when Ma'moon Abbasi asked Imam Reza (PBUH) to go to Khorasan as his crown prince, on his way to Khorasan, Imam Reza (PBUH) entered Ahvaz in 201 A.H. and stayed there for several days. Later, a mosque was built at his staying point and Ali ibn Mahziar Ahvazi willed to be buried in this mosque after his death. Today, there is a hall to the west of his tomb and connected to it which is probably the so-called Masjid ur-Reza.
